Historical background

ITALY - KINGDOM OF ETRURIA - CHARLES-LOUIS and MARIE-LOUISE

(27/05/1803-10/12/1807)

By the Treaty of Lunéville of February 9, 1801, Tuscany was ceded by Austria to the Infante of Spain Louis de Bourbon Parme, married to Marie Louise of Spain, one of the daughters of Charles IV. The Treaty of Madrid of March 21, 1801 ratifies the cession of Parma to France. On August 2, Louis was proclaimed King of Etruria. He died on May 27, 1803. His son Charles-Louis was King under the regency of his mother. Its states were incorporated into France on December 10, 1807. In the kingdom there were two different monetary systems, one for Florence (Dena) and the other for Pisa (Francescone).
