(09/15/1644-01/07/1655)

Jean-Baptiste Pamphili, of Roman origin, was elected pope on September 15, 1644 and on the following October 4 he was consecrated pope under the name of Innocent X. In 1648 he contested the Treaty of Westphalia which secularized German ecclesiastical property without consultation. prior to the Vatican. In 1654, the decree of the Holy Office condemns the main Jansenist works. He died on January 7, 1655.
