Exemplaire sur un petit flan quadrangulaire irrégulier, décentré au droit sur la légende. Beau portrait. Joli revers de style fin. Patine vert foncé

Commentary
Le pentanummium ou pièce de 5 noummia a été fabriqué tout au long du règne pour l’atelier d’Antioche. Le type avec le E cruciforme fait son apparition en 529. Avec lettre d’officine, le type est frappé entre 539 et 545. Le type de revers pourrait avoir inspiré un certain nombre de deniers mérovingiens avec le E lunaire et croiseté.

Justinian succeeded his uncle Justin in 527 after a co-regency from April 4 to August 1, 527. He reigned with Empress Theodora. The construction of Hagia Sophia was completed under his reign, which marks the height of the Byzantine conquests.
