Archduke Ferdinand was born in 1529. He is the second son of Emperor Ferdinand I and Anne, heiress of Bohemia and Hungary, who died in 1547; he is also the grandson of Philippe le Beau. He succeeded his father, who died in Vienna on July 25, 1564, in the Tyrol and in the "Vorlande" while his brother, Maximilian II, was crowned emperor and king of Bohemia and Hungary. Archduke Ferdinand died in 1595.
