Ce denier est frappé sur un flan légèrement irrégulier. Les reliefs sont très nets sur les deux faces. Une légère patine grise recouvre les deux faces de cet exemplaire

Historical background
LANGUEDOC - ANDUZE AND SAUVE - BERNARD II
(1145-1164)
Anduze et Sauve belonged to the Bermond family between the 10th and 12th centuries. Bernard II d'Anduze was the husband of Ermengarde, viscountess of Narbonne (1143-1192). Alphonse Jourdain, Count of Toulouse, had been Ermengarde's tutor between 1134 and 1143 after the death of his father Aimery II (1108-1134). Coins began to be produced under Bernard II. Poey d'Avant had rightly noticed that the small ovoid-shaped bezant which confines the cross on the reverse was perhaps the mark of a new issue. In 1248, the lords of Anduze and Sauve sold the Sommières workshop to Louis IX.
