Obverse description : Tête ceinte d’un bandeau à gauche, la chevelure indiquée par trois mèches, le cou par deux petits traits qui se retrouvent au sommet du bandeau sur le jet de coulée.

Reverse


Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Sanglier enseigne à gauche, la queue en une sorte d’annelet ; motif en forme de goutte renversée entre le sanglier et la ligne d'exergue pointée en son centre et à ses extrémités.

The Leuques are mentioned only once in the Gallic Wars. Their neighbors were the Médiomatriques, the Lingons and the Séquanes. The Leuques as well as the Séquanes and the Lingones provided Caesar with wheat when the Roman army stopped at Vesontio (Besançon) to refuel before facing the Germans of Ariovistus (58 BC). Caesar (BG. I, 40).
