LOCRIS - AMPHISSA

(2nd century BC)

Amphissa was the main city of Western Locride. It was destroyed by Philip II of Macedon in 338 BC, but rebuilt soon after. It joined the Aetolian league around 250 BC. The city was besieged by the Romans in 190 BC. The city recovered some prosperity during the 2nd century BC..
