LOUIS XIII THE JUST

After the death of Henri IV, Marie de Médicis decided to reverse the alliances and signed a secret treaty with Spain on April 30, 1611 in order to make Louis XIII marry the Infanta of Spain Anne of Austria (1601-1666 ) and to betroth Elisabeth of Bourbon (1602-1644) to the Infante Philippe (1605-1665), future Philippe IV. The official engagement was decided on January 26, 1612. On November 20, Louis XIII, declared of age, left the government to his mother, Marie de Médicis. He will marry Anne of Austria on November 28, 1615.
