Très bel exemplaire sur un flan bien centré des deux côtés. Superbe portrait d’Héraklès, bien venu à la frappe. Joli revers. Petite fissure au niveau du casque au revers. Patine grise de collection

Obverse description : Tête d'Héraklès à droite, coiffée de la léonté.

Reverse

Reverse description : Zeus aétophore, les jambes parallèles, assis à gauche sur un siège sans dossier, nu jusqu'à la ceinture, tenant un aigle posé sur sa main droite et un long sceptre de la main gauche ; dans le champ à gauche, un casque macédonien.

Reverse legend : BASI-LEWS/ ALEXANDROU.

Commentary

Ce type est posthume, l’un des premiers frappés après la mort du conquérant à Babylone en juin 323 avant J.-C. H. A. Troxell dans son corpus (NS. 21) a relevé un total de 455 tétradrachmes avec 97 coins sur une estimation totale de 109 coins de droit.
