(221-179 BC)

Philippe V acceded to the throne after the death of Antigone Doson in 221 BC. He is the son of Demetrius II (239-229 BC). Having had the awkwardness to ostensibly support Carthage and to ally himself with Antiochus III, he was defeated by the Romans of Consul Flaminius in 197 BC at Cynoscephales and had to let the freedom of the Greeks be proclaimed the following year at the Games isthmic.
