Commentary


Monnaie fourrée. Pour ce type, M. Crawford a relevé une estimation inférieure à trente coins pour le droit et inférieure à trente trois coins pour le revers pour trois variétés. Ce type est en fait beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les différents ouvrages de référence.

Lucius Antoine is the younger brother of Marc Antoine. Quaestor in 50 BC, tribune in 44 BC, he was consul in 41 BC. Pushed by his sister-in-law, Fulvia, wife of Marc Antoine, he rose up against Octave , locked himself in Perugia, called on his brother. Finally, he capitulates, is forgiven by Octave and sent as governor to Spain, where he dies shortly afterwards..
