Obverse description : Buste lauré, drapé et cuirassé de Marc Aurèle à droite, vu de trois quarts en arrière (A*2).

Obverse translation : “Marcus Antoninus Augustus Tribunicia Potestate vicesimum septimum”, (Marc Antonin Auguste revêtu de la vingt-septième Puissance Tribunitienne).

Reverse legend : IMP VI - COS III/ S|C// RELIG AVG À L’EXERGUE.

Reverse description : Mercure debout à gauche sur un piédestal, dans un temple à quatre colonnes à fronton cintré, tenant une bourse de la main droite et un caducée de la gauche ; Les quatre colonnes sont formées par des Termes ; dans le tympan, on voit un serpent, un coq, un bélier, un caducée et une tortue.

Commentary

Sesterce historiquement important qui semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. Le seul exemplaire signalé provient de la collection Mazzini (autres coins).
