MARCUS AURELIUS

(+180)

Consecration of Commodus

Marc Aurèle, campaigning against the Yazygues, falls ill and dies on March 17, 180 in Sirmium or Vienna, perhaps from the plague which begins to ravage the Empire again. The author of the Pensées is deified by his son Commodus.
