MARCIAN

(24/08/450-31/01/457)

Marcian was born in Thrace in 392. On the death of Theodosius on July 28, 450, he was chosen by Pulcheria, whom he married. He fights effectively against the Huns and refuses to pay them tribute. He convenes the Council of Chalcedon. After a peaceful reign of six years, he died in January 457.
