Ce jeton célèbre l’arrivée de la reine à Paris, après son mariage avec le Roi à la frontière espagnole. Ce mariage était prévu par le Traité des Pyrénées datant de 1659, ce qui explique la légende du revers.

Historical background

MARIE-THÉRÈSE D'AUTRICHE

Marie Thérèse (1638-1683) is the daughter of Philippe IV of Spain and Elisabeth of France, the daughter of Henri IV and Marie de Médicis. She was born in 1638, like her cousin the King, to whom she was engaged following the Treaty of the Pyrenees of November 7, 1659. She married him on June 9, 1660 in Saint-Jean-de-Luz and had six children , of which only one survived, Louis, the Grand Dauphin (1661-1711). She died on July 30, 1683. Louis XIV secretly remarried in second marriage with the Marquise de Maintenon in 1683 (1638-1719).
