(1757-1790)

Sidi Mohammed ben Abdallah (1721-1790) was the son of Sultan Moulay Abdallah. After having been governor of Marrakech, he succeeded his father in 1750. In 1769, he took the town of Mazagran, putting an end to the Portuguese occupation. He opened his country to trade by signing a number of treaties with European countries and with the United States..
