Exemplaire sur un flan large, ovale, légèrement décentré au revers. Faiblesse de frappe sur le portrait du dieu. Revers bien centré sur l'animal, mais ne laissant apparaître que la seconde ligne du nom du roi. Infimes petites marques de corrosion au revers

Juba I succeeded his father Hiempsal II in 60 BC Renowned for his arrogance and cruelty, he was noticed by Cicero and then quickly became Caesar's enemy. In the civil war between Pompey and Caesar, he sided with the former. Beaten at Thapsus in 46 BC, he fled, then was killed or committed suicide. His kingdom was conquered and did not become independent again until more than twenty years later with his son, Juba II.
