Historical background

MAURETANIA - MAURETANIAN KINGDOM - JUBA II and PTOLEMAEUS

(20-24)

Ptolemy is the son of Juba II and Cleopatra Selene. He is therefore the grandson of Juba I and Marc-Antoine and Cleopatra. He succeeded his father in 24 AD. He was also the cousin of Caligula who finally had him assassinated in 40 AD and annexed his kingdom, transforming it into a province. But from 20 AD he is associated with his father.
