Reverse description : Croix posée sur trois degrés accostée de l’alpha et de l’oméga ; le tout dans un cercle pointé entouré une couronne.

MAURICE TIBERIUS

Maurice succeeded his father-in-law Tiberius II. After great victories over the Sassanids, he suffered many setbacks in the Balkans and could not prevent the installation of the Slavs and Avars. A military plot overthrew him in 602. He was assassinated while trying to take refuge with Chosroes II.
