Exemplaire sur un petit flan, légèrement décentré au droit. Beau portrait. Joli revers de style fin. Magnifique patine gris foncé de collection ancienne avec des reflets dorés

Obverse description : Buste de Mithridates II à gauche, tête nue avec un bandeau simple, sans nœud qui tombe derrière la tête, la chevelure en rouleau descendant sur la nuque, la barbe mi-longue et arrondie.

Reverse description : Le roi à droite est assis sur l’omphalos, tenant un arc et une flèche de la main droite.

(123-88 BC)
Mithridates II, one of the greatest Parthian kings, is the son of Artabane I (127-124 AC.). He began by restoring Parthian power in Mesopotamia and fixed the border on the Euphrates. He had to continue the fight against the Scythians and made Sakastan a protectorate. He consolidated his position in Asia Minor and intervened in Armenia to maintain the Parthian protectorate. But the last years of his reign were troubled by numerous usurpations. He was eliminated by Gotarzes I (95-80 AC.).
