Superbe triens, frappé sur un petit flan régulier avec une frappe vigoureuse et particulièrement bien centrée. Beaux reliefs avec leur coupant d’origine

Commentary

Toutes les monnaies connues de Pennery ont été frappées par un seul monétaire, MODERICVS. Le premier type a une tête d’une style naturaliste (B. 3641) et le second a une tête à l’appendice perlé (B. 3642-3643). Notre triens appartient à la seconde variante avec le nom de l’atelier au droit et le monétaire au revers. L’exemplaire B. 3643 auquel semble correspondre cet exemplaire provient de la vente Hoffmann du 5 février 1868, n° 209 et est indiqué appartenir au Cabinet de France .
