Obverse description : Écu festonné entouré de drapeaux, surmonté d'une couronne, encadré d'une palme et d'une branche d'olivier.

Obverse translation : (République péruvienne, Lima).

Reverse

Reverse legend : CIEN SOLES ORO - GRS. 42.1264 DE ORO FINO/ 1965 À L'EXERGUE.

Reverse description : La Liberté assise à droite, tenant de la main gauche une pique surmontée d'un bonnet phrygien et appuyée de la main droite sur un bouclier aux armes du Pérou ; dans le champ à droite, un autel surmonté d'une couronne, inscrit sur un bandeau ILBER/TAD avec une inversion des deux premières lettres.

Reverse translation : (Cent sols d’or, 42,12 g, or fin).

Commentary

Le Pérou acquiert son indépendance le 28 juillet 1821, grâce au général San Martin. Bolivar assure l'intégrité du Pérou en éliminant les dernières troupes espagnoles en 1824 mais l'Espagne ne reconnaît l'indépendance du Pérou qu'en 1879.
