Exemplaire sur un flan large et bien centré des deux côtés. Beau portrait massif de la Tyché d’Arados. Frappe un peu molle au revers. Patine de collection ancienne

Obverse description : Buste voilé, tourelé et drapé de Tyché à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant ; grènetis circulaire perlé.

Reverse description : Niké debout à gauche, tenant un aplustre de la main droite et une palme de la main gauche ; le tout dans une couronne de laurier.

Reverse legend : ARADIWN/ BKR/ 9/ PS

Commentary

Première année de frappe ! Portrait fantastique. Mêmes coins que l’exemplaire du Cabinet des médailles de la BnF (coll. L. de Clercq, n° 295 = Duyrat, p 82, n° 3015). Cet exemplaire est cité dans la thèse de F. Duyrat, Arados hellénistique, p. 82, n° 3016 (A/ 2 - R/ 6).
