Commentary


Monnaie particulièrement rare pour le comté de Ponthieu. La croix du droit est souvent décrite comme cantonnée de quatre annelets. Dans les faits, seuls trois annelets cantonnent cette croix.

(1251-1279)

In 1221, on the death of William III, coinage was interrupted in Ponthieu for more than 50 years. By inheritance, the county passed into the family of Dammartin. Edward I succeeded Jean de Nesle in 1279.
