Obverse description : Buste tourelé de Cybèle à droite, les cheveux longs tombant sur la nuque avec boucle d’oreille.
Obverse translation : “Aulus Plautius Ædilis Curulis Senatus Consulto”, (Aulus Plautius Édile curule par décret du Sénat).

Reverse


Reverse legend : BACCHIVS// IVDAEVS.
Reverse description : Bacchius (Aristobule) agenouillé, tenant la bride de son dromadaire de la main gauche et tendant une branche d’olivier de la main droite.
Reverse translation : “Bacchius// Iudæus”, (Bacchius// le Juif).

Commentary


Pour ce type, M. Crawford a relevé une estimation de 135 coins de droit et de 150 coins de revers. Ce denier est l’une des premières pièces romaines où figure le nom de IVDAEVS/Juif plus d’un siècle avant la conquête romaine de Titus.
