Nicolas I (7/07/1796-2/03/1855) is the second son of Paul I and the brother of Alexander I and the Grand Duke Constantin. He put down the uprising in Poland in 1831. After promoting the liberation of Greece, he posed as a defender of the Slavs and opposed the Turks. He found on his way the English and the French.
