Historical background

PORCIA

(125 BC)

The Porcia gens is a family of plebeian origin. In 125 AC, the triumvir monetalis is Marcus Porcius Laeca. On his coins, he refers to the Libertas obtained either by the lex Porcia (limiting the powers of requisition of governors) or by laws passed later against corporal punishment on citizens.
