Obverse description : Buste radié de Postume à droite, avec cuirasse et paludamentum, vu de trois quarts en arrière.
Obverse translation : "Imperator Caesar Marcus Cassius Latinius Postumus Pius Felix Augustus", (Empereur César Marcus Cassius Latinius Postume Pieux et Heureux Auguste).

Reverse legend : VIR-T-VS AVG.
Reverse description : Virtus (la Vertu) debout de face regardant à gauche, tenant une branche d’olivier de la main droite et une haste pointée vers le haut de la main gauche.

Postume seizes the purple by eliminating Salonin, son of Gallien, of whom he had custody. He reigns over Gaul, Brittany and Spain. Did Postume toy with the idea of conquering the Roman Empire? Gallien, twice, will try to reconquer the "pars occidentalis" of the Empire, without success. Postume will remain in power for nine years, before perishing assassinated for having refused the sack of Mainz, a city which supported Lélien.
