(1480-11/12/1481)

Charles du Maine, nephew of King René, succeeded him in 1480 as Count of Provence under the name of Charles III. Charles III had coins minted in two workshops, Aix-en-Provence and Tarascon. Charles III died in Marseilles on December 11, 1481, leaving the County of Provence to the King of France.
