Exemplaire sur un flan large et irrégulier bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis complets. Beau portrait de Pupien. Joli revers à l’usure régulière. Patine de collection

Commentary


Poids léger. Rubans de type 3. Sur cet exemplaire, le portait ne semble pas cuirassé, mais seulement drapé.

Pupien is proclaimed emperor at the same time as Balbin. After Maximin's death, he returned to Rome. A certain discord settles between the two co-emperors. According to the new chronology set up by A. Chastagnol and M. Christol, they are finally both assassinated by the Praetorians between the end of April and the beginning of May.
