Bronze sur un flan court et allongé, avec un droit presque lisse et un revers décentré. Patine hétérogène et granuleuse

Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Obverse description : Buste à droite, la joue très marquée ; un collier perlé et un torque au cou. La chevelure composée de quatre annelets pointés.

Reverse


Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Cheval bondissant à gauche, la crinière perlée. Un annelet pointé surmonté de trois petits astres au-dessus du cheval et un annelet pointé au-dessous du cheval.

Ces bronzes sont relativement abondants, mais excessivement rarement bien frappés et de conservation convenable !.

GALLIA BELGICA - REMI (Area of Reims)

(2nd - 1st century BC)

The Remi were one of the most powerful peoples of Gaul and loyal allies of the Romans. The territory of the Rèmes extended over present-day Champagne, along the Aisne. They had for neighbors the Atuatuci, the Treveri, the Mediomatrics, the Lingones, the Suessions, the Bellovaci and the Nervians. They denounced to Caesar the coalition of Belgian peoples of 57 BC which included the Suessions who shared the same laws and the same magistrates. Their main oppidum was Bibrax. The capital of the civitas in Gallo-Roman times was Durocortorum (Reims). Caesar (BG. II, 3-5, 7, 12; III, 11; V, 3, 24, 53, 54, 56; VI, 4, 12, 44; VII, 63, 90; VIII, 6, 11) . Strabo (G. IV, 3, 5). Kruta: 70, 313-314, 366.
