Très bel exemplaire pour ce type rare, mais avec une importante concrétion / oxydation au revers sur le corps du personnage. Sinon, agréable patine vert foncé

Obverse description : Tête stylisée (casquée ?) à gauche, la chevelure en quatre grosses mèches, bourrelet périphérique.

Reverse description : Personnage marchant à droite, tenant une lance de la main droite et un bouclier rond de la gauche.
Commentary
Au revers, le personnage ailé serait en fait un guerrier tenant un bouclier sur certains exemplaires.

(2nd - 1st century BC)
The Remi were one of the most powerful peoples of Gaul and loyal allies of the Romans. The territory of the Rèmes extended over present-day Champagne, along the Aisne. They had for neighbors the Atuatuci, the Treveri, the Mediomatrics, the Lingones, the Suessions, the Bellovaci and the Nervians. They denounced to Caesar the coalition of Belgian peoples of 57 BC which included the Suessions who shared the same laws and the same magistrates. Their main oppidum was Bibrax. The capital of the civitas in Gallo-Roman times was Durocortorum (Reims). Caesar (BG. II, 3-5, 7, 12; III, 11; V, 3, 24, 53, 54, 56; VI, 4, 12, 44; VII, 63, 90; VIII, 6, 11) . Strabo (G. IV, 3, 5).
