Commentary


Poids très léger. Le B est pour 2. Il fallait 3600 pièces de ce type pour un solidus. Cette monnaie divisionnaire correspond au nummia du même type frappé à la fin du règne de Justinien Ier avec la tête de face.

REVOLT OF THE HERACLII

(summer 608 - 5/10/610

Heraclius had been prefect of Africa since the reign of Maurice Tiberius. With his son, also named Heraclius, he revolted against the tyranny of Phocas. The sedition broke out in the summer of 608 and quickly the Heracliids controlled Carthage and Alexandria as well as Cyprus. On October 4, 610, Heraclius landed in Constantinople, overthrew Phocas and had him put to death.
