Ce thaler est très bien frappé sur un flan régulier. Le buste de Georges est finement détaillé. La monnaie est recouverte d’une belle patine grise de collection ancienne

ROMANIA - TRANSYLVANIA - GEORGE II RAKOCZI

(1648-1660)

Georges II Rakoczi was born in 1621 from the union of Georges Ier Rakoczi and Susanne Larantffy. On February 19, 1642, he was elected Prince of Transylvania, during his father's lifetime. He married on February 3, 1643 in Sophia Bathory. He ascended the throne in October 1648 after the death of his father. He died in Nagyvarad as a result of blows received at the Battle of Guyla (May 1660) in his fight against the Turkish invasion.
