Commentary


Écu écartelé aux 1 et 4 de trois ramures, et aux 2 et 3 de deux bars adossés. Cet écu révèle bien les liens qui unissait la famille des comtes de Wurtemberg avec la ville de Montbéliard.

His father, Georges I of Württemberg, had married his mother, Barbe, daughter of Philippe the "Magnanimous" when she was only 19, at the age of 57. The couple quickly had a son, whom he lost.
