Commentary


Ce type semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. Seulement sept exemplaires sont recensé par R. Calciati. Ce type est encore parfois donné à la dernière partie du règne d’Agathoklès (295-289 avant J.-C.).

We have little information on the fourth republic (289-287 BC), a short period between the reigns of Agathokles and Hiketas, before the arrival of Pyrrhus in Sicily. The exiles were recalled. It does not appear that gold, electrum or silver coins were made during this "interregnum".
