Obverse

Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Obverse description : Bige au pas à droite, conduit par un aurige, tenant les rênes et le kentron, couronné par une petite Niké volant à droite ; à l'exergue, oiseau debout à droite, battant des ailes.

Reverse

Reverse description : Protomé de taureau androcéphale du dieu fleuve Gélas à droite ; le tout dans les restes d’une dépression creuse.

Reverse legend : GELAS.

Reverse translation : (Géla).

Commentary

Importante cassure de coin au droit et coin bouché. Mêmes coins que les exemplaires de l’American Numismatic Society (ANS. 94 à 96, pl. 4) plus particulièrement le n° 96 dont le droit est bouché comme sur notre exemplaire et que l’exemplaire de la collection Pozzi (n° 440, pl. XIV).
