Commentary


Cet écu est l'un des plus rares et des plus difficiles à trouver de la série suisse. En effet, contrairement aux "écus de tir", ces frappes à l'Helvetia ne furent pas conservées en souvenir ni thésaurisées..

(since 1848)

Switzerland formed a Confederation in 1848. It adopted the Swiss Franc, aligned with the French Franc in 1850. It joined the Latin Union in December 1865. It remained neutral during the two world wars and later grew rich thanks to its banks.
