Exemplaire sur un petit flan ovale et irrégulier, bien centré des deux côtés. Très beau portrait d’Apollon légèrement stylis. Très joli revers de syle fin. Magnifique patine vert olive foncé lissée

Portrait très particulier. Ce type était donné à l’atelier de Sardes par Newell (WSM. 1414, pl. LVII/21).

(261-246 BC)

Antiochus II succeeded his father, Antiochus I (280-261 BC). Under his reign Parthia, Bactria and the kingdom of Pergamon were definitively lost. The struggle against the Egypt of Ptolemy II Philadelphus (285-246 BC) was continuous and the control of Syria and Cilicia was often questioned. Antiochus II possibly perishes assassinated.
