Exemplaire sur un flan large et bien centré au droit, un peu court sur la légende du revers. Portrait magnifique avec le grènetis complet. Sujet inhabituel au revers. Jolie patine de collection ancienne avec des reflets dorés

SYRIA - SELEUKID KINGDOM - ANTIOCHUS VI DIONYSUS

(145-142 BC)

Antiochus VI Dionysos, son of Alexander Balas and Cleopatra Thea, was proclaimed king by General Diodotus to fight against Demetrius II. Antiochus VI once assassinated by Diodotus in 142 BC, he had himself proclaimed king under the name of Tryphon (142-138 AC.). Demetrius II was captured in 140 BC by the Parthians and his brother Antiochus VII Sidetes succeeded him. Cleopatra Théa hastened to marry him.
