THESSALY - GYRTON

(4th - 3rd century BC)

Gyrton was located near the Peneios River and at the mythical foundation of the city by Phlegyas son of Ares, king of the legendary Lapith tribe. He was also the father of Ixion and Koronis, mother of Asklepios. The city was the ally of Athens during the Peloponnesian War.
