Coments on the condition:
Exemplaire sur un petit flan, parfaitement centré des deux côtés. Très belle tête d’Athéna. Joli revers de style fin avec un petit plat sur la tête du cheval. Jolie patine de collection ancienne avec des reflets dorés

Commentary


Sur notre exemplaire, la tête d’Athéna est encore archaïsante. Le casque est lisse. Mêmes coins que l’exemplaire de la collection Pellerin (1776) conservé au Cabinet des médailles de la BnF (IFN 8572581), J. Pellerin, Recueil de médailles de peuples et de villes, Paris, I, pl. 28, n° 44.

Pharsalus is one of the most famous cities of Thessaly because of Caesar's victory over Pompey in 48 BC. The city was built on the slopes of Mount Narthakios on the banks of the Enipeus at forty kilometers from Larissa.
