Historical background

THRACIA - ADAIOS

(255-245 BC)

Strategist)

Adaios seems to have been the military governor (strategos) of the Thracian territories conquered by Antiochus II around 255 BC during the second Syrian war (260-253 BC) which opposed him to Ptolemy II. Adaios seems to have behaved like a local potentate and established an independent territory. He was eliminated by Ptolemy II at the start of the Third Syrian War.
