Commentary


Le droit est bien l’ancre dans cette série et pas la tête de méduse. Au droit, le mollusque, décrit comme une écrevisse, est incertain. Sur cet exemplaire, la lettre au droit est renversée.

Apollonia Pontica, located on Pont-Euxin was a Milesian colony. The city was famous for its temple of Apollo and its colossal statue, the work of Kalamis. When Lucullus captured the city in 73 BC, he had the statue of the god transported to Rome.
