Flan légèrement décentré au revers. Joli portrait de Tatius, bien venu à la frappe. Revers agréable, détaillé. Patine grise

Obverse description : Tête nue et barbue de Tatius à droite ; une palme sous le menton.
Obverse translation : “Sabinus”, (Sabinus).

Reverse


Reverse legend : L. TITVRI À L’EXERGUE.
Reverse description : Tarpeia agenouillée de face entre deux soldats qui lui jettent leurs boucliers ; au-dessus, une étoile placée au-dessus d’un croissant.
Reverse translation : “Lucius Titurius”, (Lucius Titurius).

Commentary


Le revers commémore l’exécution de Tarpeia. Pour ce type, M. Crawford a relevé une estimation de 294 coins de droit et de 327 coins de revers. Ce type de la mort de Tarpeia semble moins courant que celui de l’enlèvement des Sabines.
