Exemplaire sur un flan large, bien centré des deux côtés, légèrement échancré à 1 et à 11 heures. Beau portrait. Revers bien venu à la frappe avec une faiblesse de frappe sur la légende. Patine noire légèrement granuleuse

Reverse legend : RESTITVTOR - REIPVBLICAE// SMNA.
Reverse description : L'empereur debout de face, la tête tourné à droite, diadémé, vêtu militairement, tenant un étendard de la main droite et un globe nicéphore de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Restitutor Rei Publicæ”, (Le restaurateur du bien public).

Commentary


Poids lourd. Rubans de type 3, trifide aux extrémités bouletées. Diadème terminé par un cabochon gemmé. Fibule d’attache, formée d’un cabochon perlé.

(02/25/364-11/17/375)

Valentinian, proclaimed on February 25, 364, joined his brother Valens on August 24 of the same year. They share the Empire, Valentinian reserving the West. In 367, the Emperor named Augustus his son Gratian. Valentinian died on November 17, 375, leaving the West in great danger.
