Exemplaire sur flan large et ovale, bien centré avec les grènetis visibles. Magnifique portrait et beau revers. La monnaie a conservé une partie de son brillant de frappe

Obverse description : Buste diadémé, casqué et cuirassé de Théodose II de face, tenant de la main droite la haste qui repose sur l'épaule et de la gauche, un bouclier orné d'un cavalier chargeant à droite (N’a).
Obverse translation : “Dominus Noster Valentinianus Pius Felix Augustus” (Notre seigneur Valentinien pieux heureux auguste).
Reverse
Reverse legend : SALVS REI - *PVBLI-CAE// CONOB.
Reverse description : Théodose II à gauche et Valentinien III à droite, assis de face sur un banc, nimbés, vêtus du manteau consulaire, tenant chacun la mappa de la main droite et ensemble une croix de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Salus Rei Publicæ” (La Santé de la chose publique).
Commentary
Sur ce solidus, Théodose II, qui a rétabli son neveu sur le trône de son père Honorius, partage les fastes consulaires avec Valentinien III. Type rare sans lettre d’officine (7 ex. au Depeyrot).
