Obverse description : Tête d’oiseau (?) à gauche, incluse dans une sorte de torque et entourée d’une couronne de lauriers stylisée.

Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Croisette centrale, accostée de deux esses sur le côté gauche et de trois globules sur le côté droit.

Commentary


Ce type de revers est relativement classique(cf. LT 9434, 9436), mais le droit a la particularité d'avoir une sorte de torque entre la couronne et la tête d'oiseau.

VINDELICI (Germania, currently South Germany)

The Vindelicians were considered to be a people of Celtic origin. They possibly controlled the headwaters of the Rhine and the region of Lake Constance and the Inn valley. Their neighbors were the Helvetii and the Boii. Their main oppidum was Brigantion (Bregenz). They were submitted only by Tiberius during the campaign of 15 BC. Strabo (IV. 3, 6; VII, 1, 5); Pliny (HN. III, 133); Tacitus (An. II, 17); Ptolemy (G. II, 12). Kruta: 69.
