Monnaie sur un flan un peu court et irrégulier, comme découpé. Droit et revers homogènes avec une très belle patine verte

Commentary
Ce sceat est très intéressant, avec un revers assez clasique, mais en bronze et avec un avers d’un style très inhabituel ! Il pourrait s’agir d’une imitation tardive,frappée en Angleterre ou en Gaule.

If the minting of these coins is to be located at the beginning of the 8th century, in Great Britain, it is not exceptional to find them in Gaul. They are often confused with Merovingian silver coins (cf. MONNAIES XIX, n° 503, sceattas c. 680-710, classified in Merovingian denier of Laon). During the 8th century, the style of these pieces is more and more degenerated, they are often in ridge or filled. These coins disappeared from circulation in the second half of the 8th century.
