Patine hétérogène avec des taches d’oxydation et quelques concrétions. Présence de quelques coups et rayures, notamment sur les bords de la tranche

Obverse description : Allégorie féminine du Brésil, assise sur un ballot, couronnant de laurier un homme agenouillé à ses pieds. Vue sur le palais d’exposition à l’arrière plan. Branches de laurier à droit et à l’exergue. Grènetis en bordure extérieure. Signé : G. DEVREESE.

Reverse

Reverse legend : BRAZIL - 7 SETEMBRO - 1822-1922 // INDEPENDENCIA / DU MOTE!.

Reverse description : Femme diadémée, agenouillée au pied d’une Victoire ailée, s’envolant après avoir brisé les chaînes qui lui tiennent les poignets. Vue sur une baie et un soleil levant à dans le lointain. Grènetis en bordure extérieure. Signé : G. DEVREESE.

Commentary

Médaille conservée dans un écrin marron à liseré doré et gaufré du monogramme CS et des millésimes : 1822-1922. La médaille fut l’occasion de célébrer le centenaire de l’indépendance du Brésil. L’écrin provient de la maison “J. Fonson, médailles d’art”.
